Surviving the tests of time, El Ideal Bakery and Refreshments stands strong in the heart of Silay City in Negros Occidental.
Established in the 1920′s by Mr. Cesar Locsin y Lacson, it’s the best place to rest and unwind after visiting and looking at all the old houses and museums in the city. A historical landmark in itself, the family-run business is a definite must-visit.
The place is famous for a lot of local delicacies such as oatmeal cookies, mango tarts and piaya. But when you visit El Ideal, make sure you order the Guapple Pie because you can’t get it anywhere but there.
Guapple is a portmanteau for guava and apple. It’s a one-of-a-kind guava variety that’s native to the Negros province.
But aside from the guapple pie, El Ideal is also famous for their Mango Shake. It’s thick, creamy and made from the sweetest-tasting mangoes.
It’s so delicious that almost everyone orders this. Even the locals are fond of spending their afternoons in El Ideal just to have their mango shake.
El Ideal Bakery and Refreshment is located along 118 Rizal St., Silay City in Negros Occidental. They also have a branch inside the GF North Arcade at Robinson’s Place Bacolod.
