Four Health Benefits of Soy Milk

.

I often see people in the gym drink soy milk. And I thought, why not write about it here today. What exactly is soy milk? What are the health benefits of soy milk?

Here are the things I discovered with my short and simple research. I hope you find it informative. But first, here’s my previous article on Vanilla Silk Soy Milk. 😀

Soy milk is called by many names: soya milk, soymilk, soybean milk and even or soy juice. It’s made by soaking dry soybeans and grinding them with water. And while many people buy soy milk, you can also make it at home.

Many people who are lactose intolerant use soy milk as an alternative because its properties is close to cow’s milk.

However, some people choose to drink soy milk because of its additional health benefits:

  1. Good source of protein, lecithin and vitamin E
  2. Has more fiber than cow’s milk
  3. Contains less saturated fat than cow’s milk
  4. Contains isoflavones

What are isoflavones? It’s a naturally occurring organic compound that said to boost your immune system and help your body fight against cancer.

Is soy milk all that good? Well, you should know that soy milk has very little calcium – 75% less than cow’s milk of the same quantity.

But fortunately, some soy milk beverages manufacturers add calcium in the drink to make it better. Or you can always get your calcium from other food sources like cheese, yogurt or green leafy vegetables.

That’s it! Next time, I’ll tell you how to make soy milk at home. It’s quite simple and I hope you watch out for that.
