No Straw Day Every Thursday in Muntinlupa

By | May 4, 2011

.

Last week, I was getting some dinner in Jollibee when I noticed this sign.

It says that as part of the Muntinlupa City Ordinance 10-109 which bans the use of plastic in the city, they’re now also implementing a “No Straw Day” every Thursday.

Honestly, I had mixed feelings about this.

Of course, I believe that this is a simple but excellent way to lessen our consumer waste. In the grand scheme of things, it’s just a very small sacrifice for our environment, right?

But on the other hand, how am I going to drink my Watermelon Sprite Float without a straw?

And if this is implemented city-wide, then how about those ice blended drinks in coffee shops which are usually topped with whipped cream, how are you going to drink that?

Well, I guess establishments in Muntinlupa should start investing in paper straws soon before the “No Straw Day” becomes “No Straw Everyday”. 😀
